Privacy Notice

This notice describes information collected when someone uses Franklin County Released Inmates, how that information supports site functions, and the limited situations in which it may be shared. It also explains third-party searches, cookies, security limits, and available data choices. By continuing to use the site, a visitor accepts the practices described here.

Information You Submit

Terms Entered in Search Tools

A name, location, or other term entered in a sponsored search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates the tool. Franklin County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s privacy terms govern its collection and use.

Messages Sent to Us

If someone sends an email or submits a contact message, we retain the message and supplied address as needed to review and answer it. We do not share that correspondence outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Technical Data Collected Automatically

Normal web-server and analytics functions may record technical details when a page loads. These details help measure traffic and diagnose faults:

  • the visitor’s Internet Protocol address;
  • browser name and version;
  • device category and operating system;
  • pages opened and time spent on them;
  • the referring website, when available; and
  • date and time stamps.

Cookie Controls

Cookies help show how visitors move through the site and whether features work as intended. A browser can reject or remove cookies through its settings. Blocking them may cause some site or partner functions to behave differently.

How Information Supports the Site

  • maintain performance and basic site operation;
  • send a sponsored search request to the selected partner service;
  • understand which Franklin County resource pages visitors use;
  • detect errors and repair technical problems; and
  • display advertising that may reflect a visitor’s interests.

Privacy Beyond This Domain

Links may lead to Franklin County release-record pages, sheriff and corrections resources, Massachusetts government portals, or outside search tools. After a visitor follows a link, the destination’s privacy policy controls its practices. Official Massachusetts public-record access is governed by laws including M.G.L. c. 66, but that law does not replace a destination’s separate web privacy terms.

Some advertising companies use their own technology to recognize activity across websites and select interest-based ads. That tracking takes place on the advertising company’s systems, not on systems controlled by Franklin County Released Inmates.

Limited Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. Data may reach a limited set of recipients when needed for the functions described in this notice:

  • search partners that process a query submitted to their tool;
  • analytics services that measure site use;
  • advertising networks that deliver ads; and
  • law-enforcement agencies or other government bodies acting under a valid legal order.

Reasonable Security Measures

We use standard administrative and technical safeguards suited to a public reference site. No website, network, storage service, or internet transmission can be promised as fully secure. We therefore cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.

Visitors Younger Than Eighteen

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Get in Touch page to request its deletion.

Your Privacy Choices

  • ask for a copy of personal data we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate personal information;
  • request deletion where applicable; and
  • object to or opt out of certain processing where a right applies.

Changes to This Notice

We may revise this privacy notice as practices, services, or legal requirements change. A revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
